A.I hearing aids have landed...
Leading hearing aid manufacturers are now harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to help drive hearing clarity, even in noise. Phonak's Infinio Sphere, Starkey's Omega AI and Resound's Vivia have incorporated an AI micro-processing chip devoted to separating speech from noise, delivering cleaner speech signals to the wearer.
Hearing aids have become more sophisticated over the last few decades. Put simply, hearing aids contain microphones which detect sounds, amplifiers and processors which boost, filter and adjust the sound relative to your unique hearing profile, and a loudspeaker which presents the finished sound in to your ear. The rationale of most hearing aid prescriptions is centred on improving speech clarity and audibility. Hearing aids work with your residual hearing and underlying [impaired/damaged] hearing organs. Because of this, they cannot solve all hearing problems. It is therefore important to have realistic expectations about their technical capabilities.

How do I know if I need hearing aids?
The process of acquiring hearing aids can feel daunting and hearing loss may be very gradual. Missing little bits of conversation or struggling to hear in background noise are common indicators of hearing loss. Often, family members or friends may pick up on these struggles. At Ear Care Specialists, we are sensitive to your needs and will guide you through every step: from initial hearing assessment to choosing the right hearing aids and getting them set up.
How does the free hearing aid trial work?
We provide a free two-week at-home hearing aid trial for patients who have scheduled a 75-minute full hearing assessment with us. If we determine you are a suitable candidate for hearing aids, we arrange a fitting appointment to start the process. At trial end, you can choose to purchase the hearing aids, try a different model (we charge £79 for the additional appointment time), or return them to conclude the process.
How do I know which hearing aid technology level to choose?
There are a wide range of hearing aid manufacturer's out there. And for each model of hearing aid, there are often 3 or 4 different technology specifications available; from the basic to the spectacular - a bit like computers. Higher tech specifications tend to cost more money. If you lead a busy lifestyle or find yourself in noise or group settings you are likely to benefit from higher technology levels which have more advanced noise processing.
